Mrs. Yacono was born in Cleveland, Ohio, where she attended Saint Albert the Great Catholic School. In 2007, her family relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina. Mrs. Monica Yacono attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte on an athletic scholarship to play soccer and earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. As a student-athlete at Charlotte, Ms. Yacono was a co-captain of her team and received the MVP award and All-Conference second team award her sophomore year. After graduating from college, she taught 5th grade and coached boys' and girls' soccer for two years at Saint Raphael Catholic School. Ms. Yacono enjoys reading, traveling, and working out. She has been with Washburn School for four years as the upper elementary school Science teacher. Two years ago, she also took on the challenge and adventure of teaching Social Studies from 4th to 6th grade.
