Standards and Accreditations

Washburn School earned accreditation from the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), accreditation divisions of AdvancED (Cognia as of 2020).

NCA CASI, SACS CASI, and NWAC provide nationally and internationally recognized accreditations, the purpose of which is continuous school improvement focused on increasing student performance. To earn accreditation, schools must meet NCA CASI’s , SACS CASI’s , and NWAC’s high standards, be evaluated by a team of professionals from outside the school and implement a continuous process of school improvement.

Accreditation demonstrates to our students, parents and community that we are focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation staffed by highly qualified educators.

NCA CASI, SACS CASI, and NWAC accreditations are recognized across state lines, which not only eases the transfer process as students move from accredited school to accredited school but also assures parents that the school is meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and successful professional practice.

Washburn School is a private, nonsectarian, multicultural, nonprofit, value-based, college preparatory Pre-K to 12th-grade school in which English is the main language of instruction. Washburn School fosters a holistic, challenging, and dynamic exemplary English language educational program in a safe and nurturing environment. We educate and inspire our students to reach their full potential and we are committed to empowering them to pursue personal and academic excellence. Washburn prepares students to become critical thinkers, lifelong learners, precise communicators, ethical leaders, intellectual problem solvers, and caring global citizens.

Due to a power outage, part of the school is running on our diesel generator and solar panels, but electricity is not reaching all buildings. We are investigating why the generator system is active but not supplying power to all areas.
This announcement was shared as soon as we found out (6:45–7:00 a.m.) through Teams, Facebook, Instagram, Remind, and email.

Triple Victory for Washburn Senior Eagles Female and Male Teams

Recently, our Junior Girls, Senior Girls, and Senior Boys volleyball teams have earned significant victories championships, subchampionships, semifinal runs and , advancing deep into competitive tournaments. Their effort and sportsmanship reflect the same discipline and commitment they show in the classroom.

Carlos Felipe García Luna has earned an impressive $1.2 million in scholarships from 10 universities across the United States, including a full-ride scholarship to Haverford College, one of the nation's most prestigious institutions.

Haverford College is known for its high selectivity, with an acceptance rate of just 12%, expected to drop to 9% this year due to the increasing number of applications.
