Biography
My name is Leoneliz Claudio Ortiz, and I am from Caguas, Puerto Rico. I graduated from Colegio Adianez, where I was an active student, earned various recognitions, and participated in every school organization I could. In 2025, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology at la Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. I’m also pursuing a master’s degree in Science Education.
Throughout my university years, I dedicated myself to volunteering, offering tutoring to under-resourced children. I also worked with a company that specialized in one-on-one homeschooling, and I’ve coached volleyball for children and teens between the ages of 4 and 17. For the past year, I’ve had the joy of being a volleyball coach at Washburn School, and this year, I’m incredibly excited to begin my first year as a classroom teacher and second year as a coach.
These experiences have confirmed that teaching is my calling. My teaching philosophy is inspired by the idea of becoming that special teacher students remember with love. We all carry in our hearts the memory of someone who made learning feel safe, fun, and meaningful. I believe in creating a warm and supportive environment where every child can grow, discover who they are, and feel proud of their progress. I truly believe that my graduate degree will help me grow and learn, and that I can better support my students in reaching their full potential.
