Washburn School Ponce 4th to 12th Grade Science In The Classroom and Online Highlights

4TH TO 6TH SCIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM:

Upper elementary students at Washburn’s face to face science class use a variety of resources as they learn about the sciences of life, physics, and earth. These students will gain knowledge and develop many 21st century skills in these areas throughout the year through investigative techniques, interactive learning, and teamwork.

7TH TO 12TH SCIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM:

Students in our 7th to 12th Science classrooms at Washburn School use tablets, computers, modules/workbooks, labs, and a variety of group activities such as STEM applications to expand and apply the scientific topics learned. We use direct instruction, hands-on investigations, simulations, and STEM challenges as major learning strategies.

WASHBURN'S 7TH TO 12TH GRADE ONLINE

7th to 12th graders at Washburn School’s online learning program use Teams, McGraw-Hill Online books, Youtube and Khan Academy science videos, virtual labs and simulations, and Microsoft 365 Education apps to learn about all important Science topics. Through Washburn’s online program and virtual classrooms, we also meet through video conferences to discuss the material given, answer doubts and questions, and complete given class assignments.

 ONLINE SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES: Washburn School's remote learning modality uses Microsoft Teams, McGraw Hill, and many other online resources to learn concepts in both science and social studies. Through Washburn's online program and virtual classrooms, we also meet through video conference to have face to face lectures, review concepts, and check for understanding.
