His childhood dream ✈️👨✈️ is now a reality.
Washburn Senior Class of 2025, Alejandro J. Colón Guzmán, has been accepted to prestigious aviation programs… but his story began 10 years ago.
During the ring ceremony, his mother shared a memory: after his very first day of 4th grade at Washburn, Alejandro told her,
“Mom… I feel at peace.”
She also recalled how he dressed up as a pilot on Career Day.
Ten years later, that boy who dreamed big… is ready to begin the journey he once imagined 👨✈️!
Just like our kindergarteners celebrated Career Day today, Alejandro celebrated his — ready-to-fly ✈️🦅.
He was accepted into the Aerospace and Technology School and Professional Pilot Programs at:
-
Kansas State University
-
Oklahoma State University
-
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Arizona)
-
Interamerican University of Puerto Rico
-
Auburn University
Not just to become a pilot — but to pursue a bachelor’s degree in professional piloting, aerospace, and aviation technology.
Thanks to Washburn, Alejandro is fluent in English, grounded in discipline, and equipped with a global vision.
Now he has the tools not only to fly, but to pivot into fields like aerospace engineering, commercial aviation, or aeronautical technology.
English opened the doors of the world.
Washburn prepared him.
And his dream… took off.
