From Ponce to Microsoft: Washburn Alum Carolina Caraballo Vélez Excels
Washburn School is proud to celebrate our Class of 2022 alumna, Carolina Caraballo Vélez, who is making waves as a Software Engineer Intern at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. Her journey from our Ponce classrooms to developing real-world software solutions is truly inspiring.
Her achievements include:
- Full scholarship at Chapman University ($272,800) for Computer Science and Engineering, with over $1.3 million in total offers from seven universities ranging from Penn State to St Lawrence U.
- Leadership roles as Resident Advisor, Career Peer Advisor, and Fowler Circuit student council member.
- Co-creator of Chapman University's first arcade.
- Fully funded participant in Google’s Latinx Summit in Chicago.
- AI Tech Fellow at UCLA and Break Through Tech, selected from over 3,000 applicants for an 18-month AI and machine learning program.
- AI Studio Fellow with American Express, designing ethical AI solutions.
- Recognized by Micron Ingram for her outstanding contributions to technology and innovation
