Thanksgiving Week

Dear Washburn Community,

We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving where you can take some time to rest, enjoy your loved ones and to practice gratitude. Students will not have class this week. Teachers will be in TEACHER TRAINING SESSIONS for Monday and Tuesday to continue to learn how to provide exceptional educational experiences for your children.

Over the week we will be installing new INVERTER AIR CONDITIONERS. Washburn has been one of the few schools in Southern Puerto Rico that has had air conditioners in every classroom since it’s establishment in 2003! Students throughout the years perform and learn better under comfortable temperatures than schools that solely have fans. Investing in new inverter air-conditioners will help the school lower it’s immensely high electrical bill expense. This will help the school continue to accumulate funds for the “Roof the Court Campaign”. Inverter air conditioners also keep a constant cool temperature in the classroom in Ponce’s hotter weather than other parts of the island. Washburn is proud to have cool and comfortable classrooms for over 16 years!

GRATITUDE PRACTICE FOR THANKSGIVING :

Before you go to bed or when you wake up focus on three moments in my life that you are grateful for. Gratitude is the antidote to the things that mess us up emotionally. You can’t be angry and grateful simultaneously. You can’t be fearful and grateful simultaneously. So, gratitude is the solution to both anger and fear, and instead of just acting grateful, we can think of specific situations that we are grateful for, little ones and big ones. If we do it every single day, and step into those moments and we can feel the gratitude and the aliveness in provides.

Kind Regards,
