4th Grade Class 9/17/18

This morning, the students used the class to finish their 6 kingdoms foldable. Then, they were to complete the reading and writing activity on pages 42-43 in the textbook. These assignments need to be finished for homework if they were not completed in the classroom.

4th Grade Class 9/14/18

This morning, the students worked on the six kingdom foldable to help them review the six kingdoms of life. I worked with a small group of students to help them review and finish the handout we started yesterday.

4th Grade Class 9/13/18

This morning, the students worked on their lesson review handout independently. The students who did not finish in class will receive extra time in study hall today and the first part of class tomorrow.

4th Grade Class 9/12/18

This morning we began class with a folding and drawing activity that will eventually contain pictures and descriptions of organisms in each of the six kingdoms. Then, we read page 40 in together and discussed the difference between genus and species. The students took notes on this page. Tomorrow the students will have a handout in class for points that reviews this lesson. I will be collecting the handout at the end of the class period. The students will be permitted to use their book and notebooks to complete it.

4th Grade Class 9/10/18

This morning, we discussed the science fair assignment expectations for tomorrow. Then, we read pages 36-37 and did a sorting activity with the cards they made. They sorted the cards into animals and plants. Then, within the animal kingdom, the students sorted the animals based on if they have a backbone and if they don't. Then, we ended the class with notes.

4th Grade Class 9/7/18

This morning, I checked the students' classification cards and classifications for points. We watched a video to introduce the classification of organisms. Then, we read pages 34-35 in the book and took notes.

4th Grade Class 9/6/18

This morning in class, I returned the hypothesis to each student. I also met with each student to discuss their exam 1 grade. I wrote the grade in the back of the notebook. While I was meeting, the students were finishing their project they began yesterday. I will be checking their ten organism cards and classifications in the notebook for classwork points.

4th Grade Class 9/5/18

This morning, we reviewed how to write an if-then statement for the hypothesis. This is how the students should have written their hypothesis. I will return the hypothesis tomorrow with the grade. Students will be able to make changes to receive points back. After the review, we began the inquiry activity on page 33 in the textbook to introduce lesson two: classifying living things. We will continue this activity tomorrow.

4th Grade Class 8/31/18

This morning, we played a class review game in preparation for the test on Tuesday, September 4th.

4th Grade Class 8/30/18

This morning, we answered all the questions on the exam review. Tomorrow we will play a review game in class.

4th Grade Class 8/28/18

This morning the students began copying the exam review. Exam 1 is on Tuesday, September 4th.  They will finish tomorrow in class. While they copied, I individually checked each student's topic and question for the science fair. I can't wait to see their experiments!

4th Grade Class 8/27/18

This morning we went over the Lesson 1 Review on page 29 in the textbook. Then, the students had the rest of the class to complete a vocabulary worksheet that will be taken for a classwork grade.
