5th Grade Class 3/25/19
This afternoon, we read about ocean features on pages 242 and 243. We discussed the quick check questions and then took notes on these pages. Students that did not finish their landform notes and illustrations worked on those as well.
5th Grade Class 3/18/19
This afternoon, I answered any questions for tomorrow's test and we discussed the exam in April. Then, we read page 239 about diamonds to introduce our next lesson. Students wrote about what they would do if they found diamonds.
5th Grade Class 3/13/19
This afternoon, we talked about how the ecosystem can change. We read pages 196 and 197 together and took notes.
*I stapled a slip in the back of each child's notebook. This piece of paper contains the assignment grades for this semester so far.
Important!
Exam 6 will be Tuesday, March 19th.
The exam will cover Chapter 3 Lesson 3 and Chapter 4 Lesson 1 (pages 166-191).
The exam review will be given on Monday, March 11th. We will be using Monday and Tuesday to work on the review in class.
5th Grade Class 3/7/19
This afternoon was a writing workshop. The students used the class time to complete their final draft of the food chain poem. This should be finished at home if it was not completed in class.
5th Grade Class 3/5/19
This morning, we worked on a brainstorming map to get ideas for our water cycle fictional narrative piece. We will begin writing the piece in class tomorrow.
5th Grade Class 3/1/19
This morning, we went over the lesson review that the students completed yesterday. Then, we reviewed the carbon, water, and nitrogen cycle.
5th Grade Class 2/28/19
This afternoon, we read about recycled material on page 190. Then, we reviewed each cycle that we have learned about this week. Then, students worked independently on the lesson review on page 191 while I continued to meet with students about their food chain poems. We will be going over the lesson review tomorrow.
5th Grade Class 2/29/19
This afternoon, the students read pages 188-189 independently and drew the nitrogen cycle in their notebook. I met with each child individually to go over their food chain poem. I will meet with those I did not meet with today tomorrow.
5th Grade Class 2/26/19
This afternoon, we watched a video about the carbon cycle, then observed and discussed the diagram on pages 186 and 187 in the book. We read the pages together and then the students drew the diagram in their notebooks.
*Food chain poem rough drafts are due in class tomorrow. They should be completed in the notebook. I will be meeting with each student to discuss it.
