Important!

Exam 6 will be on Tuesday, March 19th. 
The exam will cover Chapter 3 Lesson 3 and Chapter 4 Lesson 1 (pages 148-171). 
The exam review will be given on Monday, March 11th. We will be using Monday and Tuesday to work on the review in class. 

4th Grade Class 3/6/19

This morning, we reviewed mimicry and then we completed the quick lab activity on page 169 in the notebook. 

4th Grade Class 3/5/19

This morning, we watched a video about adaptations. Then, we reviewed pages 166-169 on adaptations and answered the quick check questions together. Then, we read page 170 and answered the quick check questions together. 

4th Grade Class 3/1/19

This morning was reading and writing in science day. We talked about the elements of expository writing and then read the expository piece on page 158. Then, we researched how clownfish and anemone depend on each other. Then, we wrote an expository piece together. 

4th Grade Class 2/28/19

This morning, the students completed the drawings we worked on for the previous lesson in their notebooks. While they worked, I stapled each child's second semester assignment grades in the back of his or her notebook. They each looked at their own assignments in their folder. 

4th Grade Class 2/27/19

This morning, we read about Monarch butterflies and completed the math in science activity on page 159. 

4th Grade Class 2/26/19

This morning, the students used the class time to complete the Chapter 3 handout for points. 

4th Grade Class 2/25/19

This morning, the students used the first ten minutes of the class to finish their notebook drawings. Then, we watched a video to review food chains and food webs. Finally, we read about and discussed energy pyramids on page 156. 

4th Grade Class 2/22/19

This morning, I wrote the exam grades in the back of each student's notebook. They read pages 154 and 155. They answered the quick check questions in their notebook and drew the land and ocean food webs. 

4th Grade Class 2/21/19

This morning, we did a class read aloud about food chains. This was a mentor text as it was written in poem form. We began practicing poem writing with rhyming words for today's reading and writing day.

4th Grade Class 2/19/19

This morning, I collected the homework that was due today. Then, we watched a video to introduce food chains. We read pages 152 and 153, and the students did illustrations in their notebooks. 
 
*Exam 5 is tomorrow. 

4th Grade Class 2/15/19

This morning, we began our next lesson on the movement of energy throughout an ecosystem. We read pages 150-151 and discussed the different roles in an ecosystem. The students drew the image on page 150 in their notebook. 

4th Grade Class 2/14/19

This morning, we discussed the elements of a letter. Then, we read the example letter about the mangroves on page 146. For homework, due Tuesday, February 19th, the students should: 
1. Research and endangered animal. 
2.Write a letter to museum scientists about why you are concerned about this animal. 
            - write about why they are endangered and how you think the scientists                 others can and should help them. 
3. The letter should be on lined paper, not in the notebook. 
4. The letter should be in correct format (follow example on page 146).
