6th Grade Class 9/17/18

This morning, we discussed the format of the hypothesis that is due tomorrow. Then, we read pages 62-63 in the textbook and discussed how digestion, respiration, and circulation are related. We took notes on the concept of circulation. 

6th Grade Class 9/14/18

This morning, I checked the students' homework. We began reading and discussing respiration on textbook pages 60 and 61. We watched a video that explained cellular respiration and a video that explains how the respiratory system works.

6th Grade Class 9/13/18

This morning, we finished the math activity we began yesterday. Then, talked about the homework due tomorrow and began reading pages 58-59 in the textbook. We viewed a video on the digestive system and then took notes. 

6th Grade Class 9/12/18

This morning in class, we integrated math into science. We read pages 54-55 and completed the chart. We were finding the ratio of different birds' wingspans to their bodies. 

6th Grade Class 9/11/18

This morning, I checked the science fair introduction while the students completed a handout to review lesson 3. They were allowed to use their books and notebooks to complete. I collected the handout at the end of class for points. 

6th Grade Class 9/10/18

This morning we finished copying notes about arthropods from last Friday (page 52). Then, I discussed the introduction portion of the science fair with the students that is due tomorrow. We finished class with our pluckers activity to review and allow students to earn classwork points. 

6th Grade Class 9/7/18

This morning, we reviewed what the students read yesterday. We watched videos about arthropods and discussed how we have seen them in nature. We took notes on those pages. 

6th Grade Class 9/6/18

This morning, I returned the science fair research to students. I also individually met with each student and wrote their exam 1 grade in the back of their notebook. While I was doing this, the students finished the notes from yesterday's class and read pages 50-52 in the textbook. They were required to write a two paragraph summary in their notebook about what they learned. I will be grading this for points during study hall today. We will discuss these pages tomorrow in class. 

6th Grade Class 9/5/18

This morning in class, we introduced lesson 3 by watching two videos. We watched a video on vertebrates and a video on invertebrates. We discussed the differences and answered comprehension questions. Then, we read, discussed, and took notes on pages 48 and 49 of the textbook. Students will receive their science fair research back tomorrow. I will also be writing their exam grade in the back of the science notebook tomorrow morning. 

6th Grade Class 9/4/18

The students took Exam 1 this morning and I collected their Science Fair Research.

6th Grade Class 8/31/18

This morning, we played a class review game in preparation for the test on Tuesday, September 4th. 

6th Grade Class 8/30/18

This morning we finished answering the exam review. We will play a class review game tomorrow in class. 

6th Grade Class 8/28/18

This morning the students began copying the exam review. Exam 1 is on Tuesday, September 4th.  They will finish today in study hall or tomorrow in class. While they copied, I individually checked each student's topic and question for the science fair. I can't wait to see their experiments!

6th Grade Class 8/27/18

This morning we reviewed the concepts of fertilization and pollination. Then, we finished reading the rest of lesson that discussed the different life cycles of plants (pg. 40-42). Then, the students completed the Lesson 2 Review in their notebooks on page 43. We will go over it tomorrow. The science fair topic and question is due tomorrow.
