Social Studies Class 9/18/19
Today the students took exam 1 in class.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/17/19
This morning, to continue with Hispanic Heritage month activities, we did a web quest on Mexico. Students used their technology to work on this. We will finish on Friday!
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/16/19
This morning, we read about different types of water throughout the Americas on pages 32-37. We completed the notes guide together as we went. This was stapled into each child's notebook. We also read about water pollution.
For tomorrow's class, we will explore Mexico to begin our Hispanic Heritage month. We will complete a web quest. If possible, students should bring a technological device to complete the quest. The device will ONLY be used for this activity.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/13/19
This morning, students labeled items on textbook page 11 and 24 in their map books. Then, we read about and discussed pages 30 and 31 about seas and lakes. We will answer the think questions on Monday.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/10/19
Students completed notes from last week and then worked on the exam 1 review. We will be answering it in class and also labeling maps tomorrow. Each student should have a map book.
5th Grade Social Studies Exam 1 Review
We will be going through this on Wednesday.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/9/19
This morning, class was spent discussing our new value responsibility. The students watched a movie and recorded examples that showed responsibility and examples that did not. We will discuss this tomorrow.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/4/19
This morning, we checked workbook pages 4-6. Then, we labeled the map on textbook page 24 and read about the Panama Canal on page 25. We discussed its importance as a transportation route. Then, we read pages 28-30 about the bodies of water in and around the Americas. We will finish these notes tomorrow at the beginning of class.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 9/3/19
This morning, we worked on parts of the Lesson Review on page 27 together. Then, the students continued to work on workbook pages 4-6. We will be going over these tomorrow in class. This should be finished for homework if it was not completed in class. They have had two class periods to work on this.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 8/30/19
This morning, the students worked independently to complete workbook pages 4-6. We will be going over these pages together next week.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 8/27/19
This morning, we read pages 19-23 together and then worked on completing the notes guide together. The students answered the think questions independently. This should be stapled into the notebook. I was only able to staple those that finished.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 8/26/19
This morning, the students used the class period to finish the work from last Friday. Tomorrow we will continue in the book and students will complete a notes guide with me.
5th Grade Social Studies Class 8/23/19
This morning, students read pages 15-18 independently and answered the think questions. We will continue with this for the first 10 minutes of class on Monday.
