6th Grade Science Class 9/30/19

This morning, students wrote down the day they will present for the science fair and worked on cell review stations.

6th Grade Science Class 9/27/19

This morning, we completed the lesson review on page 74. We also went back and revisited the probe. Finally, we completed the module planning on page 165.

6th Grade Science Class 9/26/19

This morning, we read about organisms and the systems that make them up on page 70. We also read about organ donors on page 71. We extended and talked about blood types as well. Finally, we completed pages 72 and 73 of the lesson review.

6th Grade Science Exam 2 Review

Here is the exam review for exam 2. Please understand that this is uploaded extremely early and because of that, we are still covering material that is on it. Students are welcome to begin the review as it is important to begin studying as early as possible; however, we will not be going over the review in class until Thursday, October 3rd, a week before the exam.

6th Grade Science Class 9/23/19

This morning, we introduced the phenomenon for this lesson on page 59. Then, we read about how cells are organized on pages 62 and 63. Students completed at outline in their notebooks.

6th Grade Science Class 9/20/19

This morning, we CELLebrated the end of module 1. We completed the rest of the module pages and identified the parts of the cell in the model that I created.

6th Grade Science Class 9/19/19

This morning, we completed the lesson review on page 48.

5. By looking at the cells under a microscope, I could infer what kind of organism the cells came from. I could see if the cells had cell walls, and if so, I could infer that they came from a plant, fungus, or protist. I could also look at the shape of the cell to make a judgement. If the cells, had chloroplasts, I could infer that they were either from a plant or a protist.

6. I disagree because the cell membranes are flexible and allow certain materials  to enter and leave cells.

Then, we completed the module planning after lesson 2 on page 50.

The model will contain organelles that are included in that type of organism.

Each part of the cell carries out a function necessary for life.

The model will help the scientists with determining whether or not the samples are made of cells, as well as determining whether or not they carry out life functions.

We completed the chart for the investigation on page 51 to prepare for the module project tomorrow. We will finish this tomorrow.

We began the next module by encountering the phenomenon on pages 55-56. Students completed lesson 1 probe independently.

6th Grade Science Class 9/18/19

This morning, we discussed how structure and function are related. We described the structure and function of the cells on page 44. We also read about Vorticella on page 45 and discussed its structures and their functions. We also completed pages 46 and 47 of the lesson review and revisited the probe for this lesson.

I checked students' cell models that were due today for points.

6th Grade Science Class 9/16/19

This morning, we reflected on exam 1 as a class. Then, the students used the remainder of the period to complete their cell organelle real world model. They began this Friday. This is due and will be checked for points on Wednesday.

6th Grade Science Class 9/11/19

This morning, we read about organelles in the cell on pages 38 and 39. Then, we completed the concept map on page 39 together.

Inspire Science Online Access

Good morning all,

I was unaware that the students have an online access with their science books. If you don't mind, could you please send in a copy of your receipt or send a picture to me through email so that we can set up their accounts? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for all your do!
Ms. Trickett
