This afternoon, due to technical difficulties, we were not able to watch the ocean video. We read and observed the pictures on pages 136-137. Then, we completed workbook page 71 together. The students took some notes on the ocean and then drew a picture that shows the habitat and at least 4 labeled animals that live there.

Students took exam 4 yesterday in class. 

This afternoon, the students worked in their groups to finish their desert books! They did a great job!

Exam 4 is on Tuesday, January 22nd. The review and the review with answers are both posted on your child's grade-level page. 

Thursdays are reading and writing in science days! We had a great class. Students worked together in groups to write a book based on pictures of living and nonliving things in a desert. We will continue to work on this tomorrow. 

This afternoon, students completed workbook pages 68-69 for points. They completed the questions as I read each one. I collected the page at the end of class. The remainder of class time was used to complete the ecosystem drawings in the notebook. 

This afternoon, we reviewed the forest ecosystems and then we read and discussed pages 126-127 about a scientist. 

 

Then, we began talking about hot deserts and the types of animals that live there (pages 130-131). We completed workbook page 67. 

 

The students ended class by drawing the desert ecosystem and the animals an plants that live there. 

This afternoon, we reviewed characteristics of woodland forests. Then, we read pages 124-125 and discussed tropical rain forests. We compared the animals and plants in each habitat. We completed workbook pages 62 and 64 and then the students drew a rain forest and then drew and labeled 4 animals that can be found there. They did this with the woodland forest yesterday. These drawings should have been completed in class. 

This afternoon, we reviewed our story about woodland forests from yesterday. Then, read pages 122-123 and completed workbook page 61 together. Finally, the students copied a sentence about woodland forests and then they drew a picture of one with 4 animals, of their choice, that belong in the ecosystem. 

This afternoon, we reviewed habitats and how they change. We observed the illustrations and read the story on pages 112-115. We finished the class by reviewing chapter 3 and completing page 116 and 117B as a class. 

 

Note: The first exam for this semester is on January 22. The students will receive their review on January 15. 

This afternoon, we reviewed our vocabulary with a play-doh activity. 

This afternoon, I read the exam review with the students. We did a review game. I stapled the review in their notebooks.
