2nd Grade Class 8/16/18

This afternoon we talked about the steps of plant growth and how plants make their own food. We drew the diagrams and took notes from pages 25-26 of the textbook. Tomorrow we will play a review game. 
 

2nd Grade Class 8/15/18

This afternoon in class, the students received their science fair handouts and put them in a folder or in their notebook if they did not have a folder. After the science fair handouts were distributed, we read pages 24-25 and discussed what living things needs. In our notebook, we took notes on what living things are and what nonliving things are and what living things need.

2nd Grade Class 8/14/18

Tomorrow in class, the students will receive their science fair handouts. This afternoon, as a class, we observed the pictures on pages 16 and 17. We identified living and nonliving things. Then, we read "The Seed" poem and talked about what a seed needs and how it develops. Then, the students had time to complete page 1 in their workbooks. 

2nd Grade Class 8/13/18

This afternoon we very briefly brainstormed some ideas about the science fair. I can tell the students are very excited about this project! We will talk more tomorrow, and the students will receive the handouts later this week. We also talked about the difference between living and nonliving things with a class game. What a great class today! 

2nd Grade Class 8/10/18

This afternoon we reviewed what we learned from our experiment yesterday. We also discussed what we wanted to learn about this year. Very briefly, we spoke about the science fair. We will continue to talk about the science fair on Monday. 

2nd Grade Class 8/9/18

Today in class we finished setting up our notebooks for the class experiment. Then, we conducted our mini experiment in the classroom. After the experiment the students reflected and wrote about what they learned. 

2nd Grade Class 8/8/18

Today we reviewed our Venn diagram that we completed yesterday. We also continued to talk about what scientists do. We transitioned in to setting up our  notebook for the class experiment using the scientific method. This should help the students get familiar with the process and set up that they will use for the science fair.
