3rd Grade Class 9/12/18

This morning we went over the answers for workbook page 16. Then, the students worked on an in- class project. They are required to pick an animal, draw it, and then label different structures of the animal and explain how that structure protects/ helps the animal. They were very excited about this. They will have the first 15 minutes of class tomorrow to finish. 

3rd Grade Class 9/11/18

I checked the science fair hypothesis while the students completed a handout to review lesson 3. The students used their books and notebooks to complete the handout. I collected the handout at the end of class for points. 

3rd Grade Class 9/10/18

This morning, we finished notes from last Thursday. I introduced the value of justice and we discussed how it can apply to science and the environment. We read page 48 and took notes. When the students finished, they worked on workbook pages 15 and 16. At the end of the class, we went over page 15. We will look at page 16 tomorrow. 

3rd Grade Class 9/6/18

At the beginning of class, I returned the students' science fair question. Then, I met with each student to discuss their grade on exam 1. I wrote the grade in the back of each student's notebook. While I was meeting with each child, the students read pages 46-48 independently and then completed workbook page 14 independently. Then, we went over page 13 and 14 of the workbook together and took notes on page 46 and 47. We will finish this tomorrow. 

3rd Grade Class 9/5/18

This morning we introduced Lesson 3 by watching a video and discussing the differences among animals. Then, as a class, we read, discussed, and took notes on pages 44 and 45. When the students finished the notes, they independently worked on workbook page 13. We will be going over the answers in class tomorrow. The students will receive their science fair question back tomorrow. I will also be writing their science exam grade in the back of their notebook tomorrow. 

3rd Grade Class 8/31/18

This morning, we played a class review game in preparation for the test on Tuesday, September 4th. 

3rd Grade Class 8/29/18

This morning we worked on finishing the exam review. I will have it up on the tv for the first five minutes tomorrow and then we will be answering the questions on the review.

3rd Grade Class 8/28/18

This morning the students began copying the exam review. Exam 1 is on Tuesday, September 4th.  They will finish today in study hall or tomorrow in class. While they copied, I individually checked each student's topic and question for the science fair. I can't wait to see their experiments!

3rd Grade Class 8/27/18

This morning in class, the student completed page 11-12 in their workbook. We went over/corrected them together. They should all have the correct answer. After, we completed the Lesson 2 Review together as a class. 

3rd Grade Class 8/24/18

This morning, I checked to make sure page 10 numbers 9-13 were completed for homework points. Then, we checked them as a class and the students corrected any they had wrong. After making corrections, we read and discussed page 38 in the textbook. Then, we finished workbook page 10 together and took some notes. We ended class with a fun activity. The students were to make a comic that shows how a plant performs photosynthesis. I did and example on the board and the students could reference page 36 in their textbook. I enjoyed seeing their creativity!

3rd Grade Class 8/23/18

This morning, we read pages 35-37 and took notes on the importance of the stem and the importance of the leaves. We talked about how plants make their food through photosynthesis. We took notes and drew a diagram of photosynthesis. The diagram is in the book. The students need to complete Page 10 numbers 9-13 in their workbook. We will go over it tomorrow. 

3rd Grade Class 8/22/18

This morning in class we read pages 32-35 aloud. We talked about the role of the roots and the stem of a plant. As a class, we completed page 9 of the workbook. We ended class with notes from pages 32-34.

3rd Grade Class 8/21/18

This morning, at the beginning of class, I collected page 6 of the workbook that the students finished in class or at home yesterday for a grade. Then, as a class, we watched a video on plants and their parts to prepare for the beginning of lesson 2 that will begin tomorrow. After the video, as a class, we completed page 27 Lesson 1 Review. The students wrote this in their notebooks.
